Bolivia - 02 May, 2023

The indigenous territory of Monteverde in Bolivia extends over 1 million hectares and is mainly covered with forests. In recent years, however, agricultural encroachment has resulted in increased deforestation.

The Bolivian Forest Research Institute (IBIF) has been working with an organization of Indigenous communities (CICOL) to develop and implement an Integrated Forest Management Plan for the sustainable management and conservation of 150.000 hectares of forests within the Indigenous territory.
